Where is the best place to stay in Ostend?

Ostend has three clearly different areas to stay in. The city centre around Wapenplein and Hendrik Serruyslaan, with shops and restaurants within walking distance. The Albert I Promenade, the wide seafront next to the Kursaal, with sea views and the town still close by. And the promenade at Mariakerke, two kilometres to the west, traffic free and noticeably quieter. Exclusive Stays has apartments in all three.

Central Ostend, if you want to do everything on foot

Shops, restaurants, the fish market and the railway station are all a short walk away. The beach is 200 to 300 metres. This is the area for a city weekend or a short break.

Albert I Promenade, sea views without leaving the centre

The wide seafront by the Kursaal, with the North Sea in front of the door and the centre five minutes away. This is the area to pick if the sea view is the reason for the trip but you still want the town within walking distance.

Zeedijk Mariakerke, for a quieter stay

The traffic free stretch of the promenade, around two kilometres west of the centre. Fewer crowds, a wider beach, and the coast tram gets you into town in a few minutes. The obvious choice for families with young children and for anyone who wants the sea to be the only sound at night.

And the Ostend seafront itself

At Zeedijk 97 you will find Maison Martha (10 guests) and Maison Simonne (8 guests) in the same building, bookable together for up to 18 people. Sea views, with the centre within walking distance.

Practical points

The coast tram (Kusttram) links Mariakerke, the centre and the Albert I Promenade, and runs the full coastline from De Panne to Knokke.
